WHAT DOES A SNAKE SYMBOLIZE
It has been used as a symbol of the primeval life force as well as a sexual fertility symbol. As snakes shed their skin, they are also symbols of rebirth, transformation, immortality, and healing. The snake can also represent the duality of good and evil.
What is the difference between a serpent and a snake?
The Serpent is a Latin derived word and another word for snake.
OUROBOROS is an ancient Greek word that translates into οὐροβόρος, and means (oura), "tail" + (bora), "food". It is an ancient snake symbol depicting a serpent or dragon eating its own tail. The ouroboros is known as a symbol for eternity and the cycle of life, death, and rebirth.
The oldest-known ouroboros symbol was found in the tomb of Tutankhamen. Embedded in ancient Egyptian iconography, it was adopted by Western civilization and was used in the Greek magical tradition and also as a symbol in Alchemy, Gnosticism and Hermeticism.
SNAKE SPIRITUAL MEANING
The snake is a powerful totem representing the source of life. If you feel an affinity with the snake design or see it in dreams, it may be your spirit animal and it can provide you guidance in all areas of your life. It means that healing, change, important transitions, and increased energy are manifesting.
